James Clifford Dowdy, 83, of Cumming, died on Jan. 20, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Tucker he was the son of the late John and Elsie Dowdy. His beloved wife, Geneva Dowdy and brother, Robert Dowdy predeceased him.
James retired from Gaylord Container Corporation. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his sons, Kenneth Dowdy of Cumming, David Dowdy of Cumming and Steve Dowdy of Dawsonville; sisters, Bullah Carter of Buford and Alice Williams of Woosley; nine much-loved grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 22 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and all day on Jan. 23 at the funeral home.
