In Memoriam: Mary Josephine “Mary Jo” Dane, 74

Always a friend to animals, Mary Jo requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be given to your local Humane Society.

Mary Josephine “Mary Jo” Dane, 74, of Alpharetta, GA and Kissimmee, FL, passed away July, 14, 2013 at Embracing Hospice House in Cumming.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Black Roberts of Alpharetta; brother and sister-in-law Richard C. and Carol Cook of Mt. Dora, FL; granddaughter Stephanie Roberts Payton and husband, Josh Payton and grandson Allen Hembree Roberts.

Mary Jo worked for the Federal Government as a legal secretary and paralegal, retiring in 1993 after 30 years of service. She then realized her life-long dream of living in Florida but continued to work as a secretary with the Osceola County, Florida school system, retiring after 10 years of service. She was a loving mother, sister and grandmother.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the McDonald and Son Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Dr. Jim Dwiggins officiating. Prior to the memorial service, the family will receive friends from 9– 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
