Visitation, Funeral Set for Prince Brothers

Visitation hours and the funeral for Jake and Griffin Prince, killed in a boating accident on Lake Lanier, have been set.

A visitation and funeral service have been set for Griffin and Jake Prince, the Buford brothers who were killed in a boating collision last month on Lake Lanier.

A public visitation will be today, July 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel and Gardens in Buford, according to the website.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4833 Suwanee Dam Road, according to a statement issued Monday by representatives of the Prince family. The Prince family asks that attendance be limited to family and close friends, the spokesperson said.

Those attending are asked to be seated at the church by 11:40 a.m. Parking will be at the church, and overflow parking will be at North Gwinnett High School.

Griffin Prince, 13, and Jake Prince, 9, were killed June 18. They were aboard a pontoon boat being piloted by their father when another boat crashed into the Princes' boat late at night. The driver of the other boat, Paul J. Bennett, has been charged with boating under the influence. The body of Griffin Prince was recovered last week after a nine-day search of the lake.

Griffin was a student at Lanier Middle School in Sugar Hill. Jake was a student at White Oak Elementary in Sugar Hill.

"Mike, Tara and Ryan Prince continue to be overwhelmed with gratitude for the outpouring of love and concern for their family since the loss of their beloved sons and brothers, Jake and Griffin, in a tragic boating accident on Lake Lanier," the statement said.

"The thousands of expressions of grief and concern carried them through the long days of the search for Griffin and will continue to lift them as they say their farewell on Tuesday," the statement said.

Members of law enforcement, who aided in the nine-day search for Griffin Prince's body, also are expected to attend.
