High School Football Predictions

Lambert, West Forsyth should keep things rolling this week.

I was humbled a bit last week in my predictions of high-school football games played in Patch coverage areas from Stone Mountain to Cumming.

After a can-you-believe-it 21-3 record the first week, I cooled off to a 16-6 mark last week (38-9 overall). I only missed badly on one pick. Really.

So, let's lace 'em up for another week. Are you ready?

Creekview at Lambert: The Lambert Longhorns are looking like the team to beat in Region 7-AAAA after last week’s big 24-7 win over defending state champion Chattahoochee. The Longhorns are favored to beat Creekview (1-1) this Friday, but the Grizzlies have shown they can score (they average 22 points per game) and shouldn't be overlooked. Lambert 28, Creekview 14.

West Forsyth at Etowah: The West Forsyth Wolverines have had a solid 2-0 start, but Etowah should provide them their biggest test so far. Etowah is 1-1, but it was competitive with state-ranked Kell (in Class AAAA) before falling 26-15 last week. West Forsyth, which is coming off a 33-9 win over Cherokee, is the only undefeated team in 6-AAAAA and looks to be the class of the region. West Forsyth 20, Etowah 14.

Chattahoochee at Forsyth Central: The defending state-champion Cougars look to re-group after last week’s 24-7 loss to Lambert. The Region 7-AAAA standings may forgive one league loss early in the season, but not two. Forsyth Central (0-1), off last week, lost to South Forsyth 24-6 two weeks ago. Chattahoochee 24, Forsyth Central 10.

Hillgrove at North Forsyth: This does not look good for North Forsyth (0-2), which has lost to two opponents far inferior to the state-ranked Hawks. Hillgrove (2-0) has outscored its opponents 89-29 behind running back Kenyan Drake, who scored five touchdowns in last week’s 48-8 win over Marietta. Hillgrove 38, North Forsyth 14.

Watch for our coverage of this week's featured game between Forsyth Central Bulldogs vs. Chattahoochee Cougars.

And remember we'll bring you "Every Game. Every Score. Every Friday."
