12 People Die in Holiday Traffic Accidents Across Georgia

The GSP reports 12 traffic fatalities in Georgia over the New Year's holiday weekend, but no fatalities in Forsyth County.

During the 78-hour travel weekend that began on Friday, Dec. 30 at 6 p.m. through Monday, Jan. 2 at midnight, there were 12 fatalities statewide over the New Year's holiday weekend, according to the Georgia Department of Public Safety.

The fatalities over the weekend included , three from Atlanta Police, one from GSP Atlanta, one from Macon Police, one from GSP Villa Rica, one from Walton County Sheriff's Office, one from GSP Thomasville, one from GSP Perry, one from Valdosta Police and one from GSP Hinesville.

Last year during the New Year's holiday period, the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) reported 320 crashes, 270 injuries and seven fatalities. Statewide in 2010, with all agencies reporting, there were 12 fatalities, 1,456 crashes and 594 injuries reported.
