13-Year-Old Girl Dies in Forsyth Crash

The teenager was riding with her sister when their vehicle collided with a truck at the intersection of Shadburn and Martin roads.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is investigating a two-vehicle accident that took the life of a 13-year-old girl.

According to the the agency, the accident occurred at around 1:20 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Martin and Shadburn roads in the northeastern sector of the county.

A 2008 Ford F-250, driven by Cumming resident Jason Kenney, was traveling westbound on Martin Road towards Shadburn Road.

Meanwhile a 1998 Acura TL, driven by 19-year-old Kori Pirkle of Cumming, was traveling eastbound on Martin Road and attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Shadburn Road.  

Both vehicles collided at the intersection. The impact of the crash was on the passenger side of the Acura where Pirkle's sister and passenger, Kayla Pirkle, 13, was sitting, the sheriff's office said. 

The teenager was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite where she died Saturday afternoon from her injuries. Her sister was transported to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell where she was treated for minor injuries and released.

Kenney, along with the two passengers inside the truck, were not injured.
