$50K Watch Stolen From SUV in Cumming

A second watch worth $15,000 also was taken.

Two days before Christmas, visitors from Florida became the victims of an auto burglary in Cumming and those responsible stole some highly valuable items.

A Cumming woman called police about 6:15 p.m., Dec. 23, to report items belonging to the two men from Cape Coral, Fla., had been taken in the parking lot of Los Rios, 580 Atlanta Road, Suite 12, in Cumming, according to the Cumming Police Department incident report.

The driver's side, rear passenger window of their 2012 Cadillac Escalade had been shattered.

An Audemars watch valued at $50,000, a Cartier watch valued at $15,000 and two Rolls Royce keys, each valued at $500, were among the items taken from inside the vehicle and a black leather duffel that had been in the floor board.

One of the victims could see from his table in the restaurant a white SUV he said pulled up beside the Escalade. Police collected blood evidence from the door panel under the shattered glass, according to the police report.

Who in the world is stupid enough to leave that in the car? Smells like insurance fraud.

Catherine, I agree with you so much. It continues to boggle my mind that people continue to leave valuables in their cars, thinking they are safe. Have folks completely stopped reading the paper and watching the news?

Wasn't there a White SUV involved in some other robbery like at the Walmart or somewhere. Seems to ring a bell.

I don't think it looks like insurance fraud! Stupidity yes! I guess us Floridians are just too trusting!! This rarely happens there! I was actually parked right behind this SUV. We went into Los Rios the same time and went out almost the same time as well. I immediately ran to check my car. Thank god was ok- but my husband who was driving behind me on way home noticed a dent on my rear bumber that had to be a cause of this- maybe when the getaway car was leaving! This incident happened so fast and with a parking lot and restaurant full of people! That's what I don't understand! Noone saw a thing- give me a break! What's worst is that now this story is coming out?? Its almost 3 weeks old!!!!

Those were my thoughts exactly - why in the world would ANYONE leave anything that valuable in a parked car! I won't leave anything in my EVEN in Florida. That's just asking for a smash and grab!
