Authorities Closing Georgia 400 Lanes, Ramp Thursday

The Department of Public Safety's traffic investigators will recreate last week's fatal accident involving a Cumming man to determine its cause.

Expect big delays on Georgia 400 northbound near Haynes Bridge Road on Thursday, April 19 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. as traffic crash investigators try to determine exactly what happened in an .

Authorities are closing two northbound lanes of Georgia 400 from the Haynes Bridge entrance ramp onto Georgia 400, extending north toward Old Milton Parkway, according to George Gordon, spokesman for the .

More than the Georgia 400 lanes will be closed. As the accident began on the northbound entrance ramp from Haynes Bridge, investigators will close the ramp also.

"All motorists will experience traffic volume delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes of travel," Gordon said. "While two lanes of Georgia 400 traffic will remain open for the majority of time, motorists are asked to slow down considerably for safety."

Motorists can use Westside Parkway from Haynes Bridge Road north to Old Milton Parkway, and then a short drive east to the Old Milton/Georgia 400 interchange. Or, if you are already on the east side of Georgia 400, take North Point Parkway north to Old Milton, but this time turn west (left) toward the interchange.

If you are driving north on Georgia 400, you might consider exiting at Mansell Road (exit 8) if you are headed to the North Point Mall area to avoid traffic backing up from the lane closures.
