Bell From Local Church Reported Stolen

This activity report is a selection of local incidents from June 27 – July 4.

Stolen Firearm

July 4, a resident on Burruss Mill Road reported a theft from her home. She told the deputy that someone had entered her home and had taken a cream colored safe which contained her mother’s will, personal checks and a .38 SPCI Armscor Precision handgun, bearing serial number AP1233883. The firearm has been entered into the GCIC.

Church Bell Missing

July 3, on Campground Road called in reference to a theft on the church property. It was reported that a 100 pound gold Russian church bell, one inch in diameter was stolen sometime within the last week from an awning where the church bell normally hangs.

Restaurant Fined For Disturbing The Peace

July 2, a disturbance of the peace call was made from a resident in the Shady Shores Subdivision on Pilgrim Mill road against the on Freedom Parkway.

The homeowner stated he went to the Pilgrim Mill Station business center and recorded the noise level and then went back to his residence to record the noise level. He reported the music was so loud he could hear it inside his home with the doors and windows closed. It is reported that the restaurant was fined after the second complaint but that a total of five complaints have been made to date.

St. Michaels Bay Subjected to Theft and Major Property Damage

July 1, five separate calls were made in reference to property damage and theft from St. Michaels Bay subdivision. Damage was reported on Anchorage Quay and Windjammer Court.

Three calls were reports of boats being entered with one reporting a smashed windshield along with others reporting their boats had been entered and ransacked. Stolen items included a fish finder and a fire extinguisher that was used to spray the owner’s boat along with other surrounding boats.

Other reports included a mail box being pulled up from its posts, rocks being thrown through a garage window smashing the owner’s car window and causing damage to the fender.

Major damage was reported by a homeowner while on her morning walk when she discovered damage around the subdivision including; a dumpster in front of a vacant lot had been overturned, street lamps near the exit gate had been broken from the gate and smashed on the ground, spot lights which illuminated the subdivision sign were found removed from the ground and broken, the security gate control panel was pulled from its brick mount and damaged and a bait and storage building door had been kicked in damaging the door frame.

An employee of Peachtree Residential Properties arrived on scene and estimated damage to his property to be $7100.

Habitual Violator Arrested

June 29, during a traffic stop for an expired tag bearing a January 2011 sticker, a deputy apprehended a habitual violator. The 43-year-old woman had her license suspended in 1997 and was now being arrested for Expired Tag, No Proof Of Insurance and Habitual Violator.

Possession With Intent to Distribute

June 28, a deputy made a stop on a silver Mitsubishi SUV that had a non-working brake light. The driver a 32-year-old man passed several safe spots to pull over his vehicle but continued to travel on State Route 20. The deputy shined his spot light onto the vehicle and noticed the driver moving around a lot inside the vehicle. He finally pulled over.

The deputy began to question the driver since he smelled a raw odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver was very hesitant in exiting the vehicle and was concealing something in his hand which he later dropped to the ground. They found it to be a large bag containing a green leafy substance that looked like marijuana. At this time he was place in handcuffs and more marijuana was found in his pocket and within a cigarette pack.

Inside the man's vehicle they located a green thermos bottle which contained several individual sandwich bags containing marijuana. The man was very apologetic and stated he smoked the marijuana to help with medical issues and A.D.D. (Attention Deficit Disorder). He was taken to the detention center and charged with felony charges of Possession With Intent To Distribute, Possession of Marijuana and a misdemeanor charge of No Brake Lights.

Fire

Capt. Jason Shivers of the reported that during the four day holiday weekend, beginning Friday, July 1 – Monday, July 4, there were a total of 112 incident calls. Forsyth County assisted in several calls over the holiday weekend; one consisted of two jet skies colliding near the Bald Ridge Marina area with injuries to one of the drivers, an adult female who sustained injuries to her lower exterminates and was transported to an area hospital .

Total incident calls for the week of June 27 – July 4 totaled 243. There were five structure fires; one of which a firefighter sustained minor injuries and three household pets were lost Another structure fire on July 2 resulted in the loss of a household pet but no other injuries were reported.

Other incident calls consisted of three cooking fires, two vehicle fires, 148 medical emergencies, three brush fires, one gas spill, two natural gas leaks, one carbon monoxide emergency, one water leak, one smoke removal, six unauthorized burn calls, one authorized burn call, three cancelled en route, six nothing found, four smoke scares, three downed power lines, one lightening strike and 15 false alarms.
