Police Continue Probe into Toddler Beating Death in Forsyth

Police have not released the identity of either the boy or man being questioned.

Update: 9 p.m.:

WSB-TV is reporting the man brought into custody will be charged in the beating death of the boy.

Update: 5:15 p.m.:

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting the man being questioned by police is the boyfriend of the mother of the child who died. The news outlet says he was babysitting the toddler and authorities were called when the mother found the child unresponsive.

Fliers being passed out Tuesday about a prayer vigil tonight at 7 in the Bridgetowne subdivision have identified the child as β€˜Wyatt’.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department, a man who is considered a person of interest, has been taken into custody Tuesday in connection to the death of a 3-year-old boy.

WSB-TV reports that around 1:45 p.m., the man was located in the some woods near the intersection of Ga. 400 and Highway 369.

Deputies had previously been dispatched to a nearby home in the Bridgetowne subdivision at approximately 11 a.m. From there, the boy was transported to Northside Hospital-Forsyth where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

It is not clear how the man or boy are related and police have not released the identity of either.
