Cumming Chase Bank Robbed with Threat of Explosive Device

According to authorities, the suspect drove off in a black vehicle from the bank, which is located at 1710 Buford Highway.

Update: 4 p.m.

According to Forsyth County Sheriff Duane K. Piper, the Chase Bank was robbed by a white male suspect at approximately 11:20 a.m. Wednesday.

The suspect was driving a black 4-door 2012 or 2013 Hyundai Genesis and the robbery took place in the drive-thru lane. The white male received an undisclosed amount of cash after he gave the teller a note. The note stated that the attached item was an explosive device.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Bomb Disposal Unit arrived and detonated the device. The device turned out to be a non-explosive item.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, the Chase Bank on Buford Highway at Trammel Road was robbed late Wednesday morning.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Office spokesman Doug Rainwater confirmed the crime, but there are many unknowns at the present time.

According to Rainwater, the suspect drove off in a black vehicle from the bank, which is located at 1710 Buford Highway.
