Captured! Child Molester Arrested

This activity report is a selection of local incidents from March 28 – April 4.

HUSBAND CALLS 911 ON HIS WIFE

APRIL 3, a deputy was called to a residence on North Glen Drive to be met by the complainant, the husband of a 30-year-old female. He told the deputy his wife had been drinking all evening and that he had overheard a conversation while she was on the phone concerning leaving something in the mailbox.

He stated that he noticed she was hiding something and asked her what it was and that if she didn’t give it to him he would call 911. The female then went upstairs with a can in her hands. The deputy found the female in the upstairs bathroom locked in and refusing to come out. The deputy could smell something burning and the female told the deputy she was not ready to go to jail.

The deputy gained entry into the smoke filled bathroom where the female admitted she had been smoking crack cocaine. A red bull can was found flattened on one side full of ashes. At this time an arrest was made and she was charged with Possession of Cocaine.

BOAT OWNERS REPORT MISSING ITEMS

APRIL 2, a report was made to the Sheriff’s Office regarding theft of several items from Weaver Boat Storage. The caller stated that he went to pick up his bass boat and noticed that seven bait casting rod/reel combos and two spinning rod/reel combos were missing.

The boat owner also reported this to the owner of who stated that a total of nine additional boats had been broken into within the last couple of weeks. The boat owner stated the approximate total of his loss alone was $2000. An investigation is underway.

CONTRUCTION COMPANY REPORTED CHECK CASHED FRAUDULENTLY

APRIL 1, an employee of TD Farrell Construction Company e-mailed the a statement regarding fraud. The employee stated she had written a check to American Express in the amount of $28,298 and that it had not been received by American Express but had been cashed by some unknown person in Missouri. They have since closed this checking account to prevent other checks being used in a fraudulent way.

VEHICLE GOES AIRBORNE AND CRASHES ONTO MARKETPLACE BLVD.

APRIL 1, a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a Chevy Cavalier which was traveling northbound on Georgia 400. The driver pulled over but when the deputy exited his patrol car the driver fled away.

The deputy notified dispatch that he was in a high-speed pursuit of this vehicle and that his speedometer reached 100 mph before exiting onto Bald Ridge Marina Road. Both vehicles turned right and the suspect drove into an office park off Bald Ridge Marina Road and Marketplace Blvd.

The suspect was driving so erratically behind the office park that he drove over a curb and off a cliff causing his vehicle to go airborne and crash eventually onto Marketplace Blvd. The deputy approached the vehicle and noticed that the suspect had gotten out and dropped to the ground. As the deputy approached the driver he got up and began running away.

Units were advised of the suspect’s description and type of clothing he was wearing and began to search the surrounding area. Within a short period of time they apprehended the 32-year-old male and transported him to for evaluation.

He was then transported to the where he was charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Fleeing, Open Container, No Seatbelt, Obstructing an Officer, DUI and Driving with License Suspended.

CHILD MOLESTER ARRESTED

MARCH 30, an officer from the was dispatched to Samaritan Drive with a report of a child being molested. The officer met with the complainant who stated that a male who lived at her residence had been molesting her friend’s daughter. 

The report was turned over to detectives who later arrested Dimas Jose Ines, a 53-year-old Hispanic male who confessed to the crime. He was charged with three felonies: Aggravated Sodomy, Child Molestation and Aggravated Child Molestation.

SOCIAL SECURITY CARD USED IN FRAUD ACTIVITY A SECOND TIME

MARCH 30, the Sheriff’s Office received another call as reported last week in regard to a female’s social security card being used fraudulently. The first report was on March 28 () when her social security card was used to purchase a $40,000 Land Rover.

The latest report was in regards to the purchase of a 2008 Ford F250 Truck valued at $46,000. The purchase was made from Hardy Chevrolet in Dallas, Georgia. Hardy Chevrolet reported the purchase was made over the Internet and the purchaser sent a check to the dealership.

The dealership delivered the vehicle to Florida. The check turned out to be fraudulent. An ongoing investigation is taking place.

SCHOOL DIRECTOR RESIGNS AFTER STEALING CASH

MARCH 29, one of the co-owners of Discovery Point Child Development Centeron Laurel Springs Parkway called the South Precinct to report that the school’s director had admitted to taking money meant to pay for day care from a parent in the amount of $1,800.

After looking into the matter further she had determined that the director had possibly taken an amount up towards $15,000 that was meant to be applied to parent’s day care bills.

She reported that the accounts were marked paid, but that the director had pocketed the money. The director has resigned and an investigation is underway.

FIRE

Captain Jason Shivers stated that for the week of March 28 – April 4, there were five structure fires.

One of these involved an elderly couple that lives at 4165 Setting Down Road where a fire started in their home while they were asleep. Captain Shivers went on to say that the couple escaped with only the man suffering smoke inhalation due to a working and effective smoke alarm, which woke the couple up. No major damage or injuries were reported in the other fires ().

Incident calls for the week of March 28 – April 4 totaled 214. There was one vehicle fire, two brush fires, 151 medical emergencies, one power line down call, three smoke scares, 20 cancelled in route calls and 10 false alarms.
