Charges Brought Against Man in Death of 3-Year-Old Boy

Christopher E.Truett is currently being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center and could face further charges pending autopsy results on the child.

A Butts County man has been charged with Cruelty to Children in the 1st Degree and Reckless Conduct in connection with Tuesday’s death of a 3-year-old boy in a Cumming subdivision.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department, Christopher E.Truett, 25, could face further charges pending autopsy results on the child, who has been identified as Wyatt Pruitt. Truett is currently being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center.

Deputy Doug Rainwater reports that on Tuesday at 10:59 a.m., the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office responded to a medical call at 3639 Roseman Landing in the Bridgetowne subdivision. The medical call was in reference to Pruitt who was unresponsive.

Pruitt had supposedly been found unresponsive by the mother’s boyfriend, Truett. A call was made to 911 by Truett and then the child’s mother, Dawn Schutts completed the 911 call and started CPR on her child.

According to deputies, Truett then fled the residence and ran into some nearby woods. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search for Truett in the woods behind the subdivision and located him a short time later.

The child, was transported to Northside Forsyth Hospital and was pronounced dead at 11:45 a.m.

Through the course of the day, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office detectives interviewed Truett, which resulted in the charges being brought against him.
