Chase Bank Robbery Suspect In Custody

Stephen C. Plunkett of Dallas, TX was arrested by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Tuesday night in connection with a Chase Bank robbery.

The hunt for a man who robbed a Chase Bank from his car by threat of explosive device is over for now.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said officers apprehended Stephen C. Plunkett at approximately 10:45 p.m. Tuesday. The 45-year-old man of Dallas, TX is also wanted in his hometown for violation of probation.

The robbery took place in the drive-thru of the Chase Bank at 1710 Buford Highway the morning of April 9 when a suspect handed the teller a note indicating that the object attached to it was an explosive.

Bomb disposal units arrived at the scene and discovered the item was not explosive. The suspect left the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police located Plunkett by using fingerprints found at the scene. He is to remain at  Forsyth County Detention Center while police continue to investigate the robbery.
