Chasing Criminals Down In Cumming

Sheriff's Office names three deputies of the month.

The and Precincts of the names Deputy Sheriff Page Cash, Deputy First Class C. Randy Burton and Cpl. Kris Hall, deputies of the month.

Deputy Sheriff Page Cash who works at the South Precinct was selected, as deputy of the month for March, by her peers for the outstanding work and excellent customer service she provides. That precinct's Commander, Capt. Ron Freeman stated, "There are numerous examples of her dedication, but the following incident really stands out."

On March 15, Cash responded to a call following a car break-in and theft at Creekside Methodist Church on Peachtree Parkway. The suspect allegedly stole a purse from the car (see story).

She was able to rapidly and effectively process information describing the suspect, his vehicle, and his direction of travel as it was being disseminated by her co-workers. Cash spotted the suspect attempting to elude other deputies by running across Peachtree Parkway into a wooded area next to a bank and shopping plaza. She was able to apprehend and the arrest the suspect.

Deputy First Class C. Randy Burton has been selected as the South Precinct, deputy of the month for February.

For  one month, DFC Burton served as an Officer in Charge (OIC) of “C” Watch, assisting as a supervisor during the absence of a Sergeant who was on light duty.

"He did an excellent job supervising the deputies and keeping them motivated,” stated Capt. Freeman.

In addition to serving as OIC, DFC Burton is also the coordinator of the Field Training Program for the South Precinct, taking on this added responsibility with no extra compensation.

“DFC Burton is a very reliable deputy and a role model to the rest of the shift and he is the first to volunteer to take on any tasks. He treats the citizens with the utmost respect and courtesy and accepts all positive remarks and corrections without complaint,” added Capt. Freeman.

Cpl. Kris Hall has been selected as the North Precinct's Deputy of the Month for February.

On Feb. 6, Cpl. Flowers responded to a burglary-in-progress at 4925 Pilgrim Point Rd. When he arrived at the scene he noticed a suspect, running down Chrysler Ave., matching the description he was made aware of earlier. He immediately chased after the suspect and managed to apprehend the man.

Cpl. Hall was able to get the names and addresses of the other suspects, allegedly involved in the crime, and in doing so, got the victim’s property returned. In addition, the information obtained from this incident led to the arrest of the main suspect in a series of burglaries on Business Drive.

“The contributions Cpl. Hall has made to the North Precinct have been invaluable,” said Capt. Mark Flowers, Commander of the North Precinct. “He is an inspiration to his peers as well as his supervisors.”

During the year, each Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Precinct recognizes a Deputy of the Month. At the end of each year, a Deputy of the Year is selected from the 12 monthly award winners.
