An 11-year-old girl has died after suffering critical injuries in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in south Forsyth County.

Caroline Addlesburger passed away at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) at Scottish Rite around 10:23 Friday morning, said Deputy First Class Michael Nelson of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office in a press release. The young girl's mother, 43-year-old Tracy Bieler of Suwanee, died at the scene of the collision.

DFC Nelson said Beiler, who was traveling southbound in a 2002 Toyota Camry on Old Atlanta Road near the Estates of Old Atlanta subdivision, apparently lost control of her car while going around a curve. In doing so, she traveled into the southbound lane and struck a 2012 Honda Odyssey that was traveling northbound.

At the time of impact the front end of the Honda collided with Beiler's Toyota on the passenger side. Her daughter Caroline was a passenger in the front seat and was critically injured. Another 11-year-old girl, a family friend, who was seated in the backseat of the vehicle received non-life threatening injuries to her face. Both girls were taken to CHOA at Scottish Rite.

The driver of the Honda, Mujtaba Syed, 40, of Cumming, was taken to North Fulton Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 17-year-old passenger in Syed's vehicle suffered a broken arm and was also taken to CHOA at Scottish Rite.

Weather conditions were a contributing factor in the fatal crash that occurred around 11 a.m., according to DFC Nelson. During that time the county was experiencing heavy rains and flooding.

The investigation into the collision continues.
