UPDATE: Reward Increases in Missing Man Case

The family of a man missing since Oct. 2011 has increased the reward amount for information leading to his recovery.

Update: 10-24-12, 12:15 p.m.

While there have been no new developments in the case of Thomas E. Funk Jr., missing since Oct. 1, 2011, more money has been added to the reward.

The family of Funk has increased the reward amount from $5,000 to $7,500 for information leading to his recovery, according to Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks of the Hall County Sheriff's Office.

A cold case involving a missing man has been reopened, the Hall County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

"This month marks one year for the case, we are re-disseminating the information in an effort to generate new leads in the case," said Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks in an e-mail.

Thomas E. Funk Jr., 48, (he was 47 during the time of his disappearance) was last seen on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 by his roommate on Oconee Circle in Gainesville. The roommate said when he awoke early Sunday morning, Funk was gone, but his cell phone and vehicle were still at the residence.

In a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) report, Funk is described as white, with brown hair and blue eyes, 6'0" in height and weighing 155 pounds. Prior to his disappearance, he had an injured foot stemming from an accident at his home.

Anyone who has had contact with Funk or who has information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Hall County Sheriff’s Office at 770-531-6879.

The family is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his recovery.
