Cruelty to Children Being Investigated

June 20, a former sub-contractor that had worked for Phoenix Roofing on Keith Bridge Road is being questioned in the theft of 91 squares of roofing shingles valued at $13,000.

It appears that the theft took place over the past few years and witnesses say they have seen the contractor take items in the past.

Bulletin Boards At Local Schools Broken Into

June 17, a deputy met with the school principal of on Echols Road in reference to a theft incident.

She stated that someone overnight had broken into the locked bulletin board in front of the school and had rearranged the letters to spell out “Eat Sum Vag," and the suspects took some of the other letters. She also reported that they tried to steal the decorative egg but was unable to do so due to the weight of the concrete base.

The same deputy made contact with school on Echols Road who also reported their bulletin board was broken into and the same words were posted. The letters were not missing from this school but were placed next to the sign.

Cruelty To Children

June 16, a tipster reported to the that she knew of three children ages four, eight and 10 that she felt were being deprived of food, forced to live in unsanitary conditions and that they were allowed to roam alone at  night. The tipster has reported the situation to DFCS in the past. An investigation is underway.

Cause Of Death To Be Determined

June 16, deputies were dispatched toin reference to a report that a person was dead. Apparently one of the tenants had not paid their rent and the manager became suspicious when he did not come to the door or answer his phone. They discovered the body of a 52-year-old man on the floor at the foot of the bed. The cause of death is being determined.

Ovens Stolen

June 16, Mrs. Winner’s at Tri-County Plaza reported a burglary in process to the . Upon arrival the deputies conducted a search of the exterior building and noticed that there was force entry into the rear door. They also conducted a search of the interior but no one was located.

A witness reported that he had observed two males in a white Ford Ranger truck loading some equipment into their truck and leaving the premise. Three Blodgett ovens were missing along with one small deep fryer. The perpetrators apparently used a crow bar to gain entry and then repositioned and cut all the cameras.

No Seat Belt Lead To Arrest

June 15, the driver of a black Cadillac Deville was stopped for not wearing a seatbelt. The deputy smelled burnt marijuana and searched the vehicle. The deputy found a grinder, a one hitter, rolling papers and a small container of marijuana between the seats. The 18-year-old male passenger admitted it was his and was arrested and charged with No Seatbelt and Possession of Marijuana.

Victims Welding Truck Used To Help Thieves

June 15, Martin Marietta Quarry on Peachtree Parkway reported that their repair shop had been forcibly entered. Items reported stolen included a 55” TV, a computer work station, wireless speaker system and several sets of copper welding leads. It appears as if the thieves loaded the property onto a company owned welding truck and drove it approximately a quarter mile to a gated entrance where they unloaded the property onto another vehicle.

Forsyth County Serious About DUI

June 13 – June 20, at least 22 people were arrested for DUI charges. Additional charges added to these individuals included; Failure to Maintain Lane, Speeding, Too Fast for Conditions, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Failure to Dim Headlights, Open Container and Driving with Suspended License.   

One incident involved a 19-year-old man who was driving too fast for road conditions that resulted in him leaving the roadway and striking a utility pole. His breath test showed a .073 and he was arrested. The driver and his passenger were fortunately not injured.

New Vehicle Left On Cinder Blocks

June 13,on Atlanta Road reported a theft. A Cumming police officer arrived to be informed that someone had jacked up a 2011 Camaro 2SS and placed cinder blocks underneath the car and stole the mag wheels and tires. The parts department reported the replacement cost at approximately $3400.
