Cumming Man, 19, Killed in Motorcycle Crash

Another traffic accident in north Forsyth County Friday claims the life of a 19-year-old man.

A 19-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash in north Forsyth County Friday afternoon after colliding with a pick-up truck, authorities said.

The fatal accident happened around 4:38 p.m. on Heardsville Road.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has identified the motorcyclist as Cameron James Fullerton of Pisgah Road in Cumming.

Traffic investigators say Fullerton was driving a Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Heardsville Road, while Jonathan Troy Sorrells, 34, of Cumming, was heading northbound in a Ford F250 pick-up truck.

According to preliminary reports at the scene, Sorrells was making a left hand turn into the parking lot of the Quick Serve convenience store when he struck the motorcycle. Fullerton attempted to avoid the collision by veering to the right into the store parking lot, but was struck by the driver’s side front of the pick-up truck. The impact of the crash threw Fullerton from the motorcycle into the parking lot of the store where he died on the scene from his injuries.

Sorrells was not injured, but was arrested on the scene and charged with misdemeanor vehicular homicide and failure to yield while turning left.

The collision remains under investigation.

This is the second fatality accident this week in north Forsyth County. Kirsti Sue Baiel, 21, of John Burruss Road in Cumming was killed Monday afternoon after being involved in a crash with a car while riding her motor scooter. The accident happened at the intersection of McCoy Circle and Spot Road.
