Cumming Man, Dog Die in Fire

A neighbor tells Cumming Patch, "he was a good man and loved his little dog."

A 64-year-old man and his dog died Friday morning following a structure fire in a single-wide mobile home.

Forsyth County firefighters responded to the scene of the fire located at 101 Sawnee Drive in the city of Cumming around 8:24 a.m.

According to a press release, as firefighters were attacking the fire inside the mobile home they quickly discovered the body of Marcus Junior Sams who was unresponsive. He was immediately removed from the residence but had succumbed to undetermined injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Division Chief Jason Shivers said that Sams had a small mixed breed dog that also died.

Marian McWilliams, a neighbor, told Cumming Patch that Sams was a good man and loved his little dog.

While the exact cause and origin of the fire is under investigation, authorities believe the fire to be accidental.

"There's nothing about it that appears suspicious," said Shivers.

The fire was contained to the structure of the mobile home and no additional injuries or damage to neighboring structures occurred.

An exact cause of Sams' death is not yet available pending autopsy and toxicology results.

I was going to ask the same thing about the jobs. I really liked the job search engine that wasRead More included before the format change. The link you provided is okay, but I liked being able to see what's available in other places and being able to narrow the search as well. You said "you can always find it under "Business"". Where? I don't see it. To be honest, I don't really care for the new website layout. I had only recently found Cumming Patch and was really enjoying it. I'm not sure I'll continue visiting. The new layout is not easy to navigate. The dropdowns that used to be in the menu were really nice so that you could go directly to what you were looking for.
