Cumming Man Dies in Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer Friday

A 43-year-old Cumming man was pronounced dead at the scene following a crash with a tractor-trailer.

A 43-year-old man from Cumming died Friday morning after being struck by a tractor-trailer on Highway 369 in west Forsyth County.

Peter Trione, who was driving a 2007 black Ford F150 truck, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Investigator Ron Tomblin of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The press release stated that Trione was heading eastbound on Highway 369 near the intersection of Hubert Martin Road when he left the roadway for an unknown reason. When he returned back onto the roadway, he went across the road into the westbound lane and was struck by a tractor-trailer on the passenger side of the Ford truck. Trione’s vehicle was then pushed down the roadway and into the driveway of a home located at 4415 Matt Highway. Meanwhile, the tractor-trailer crossed back over the road and came to rest in a pasture.

Tomblin said the driver of the tractor-trailer, Troy Lee Emanuel, 52, of Dahlonega, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Northside Hospital-Forsyth.

The tractor-trailer, owned by a company called Mountain Milk of Gainesville, normally transports chickens. In this case the truck was not loaded with live chickens, only the chicken cages and did not overturn in the crash.

No other persons were involved in the crash that happened around 7:32 a.m. Tomblin said traffic was diverted onto Bannister and Hendrix Roads because the roadway was shutdown until 10:19 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
