UPDATE: Cumming Man Dies in Head-On Collision

The 23-year-old man died after his motorcycle struck a vehicle a vehicle along S.R. 369 early Tuesday morning.

Update at 4:03 p.m.: The Humane Society of Forsyth County has issued a statement on Hall's passing on its Facebook page

Last night one of our own was taken from us. Charles Hall, a shelter employee, volunteer and dog foster lost his life in a fatal motorcycle accident.

Charles came to us from the Marine Corps. after serving a tour in Afghanistan, he had to come home to care for his ailing grandmother. He had a gift and a true passion working with some of our most difficult and hard to control canines, taking time to make sure they all received hands on training and were given time to really be a dog instead being scared.

He would have 3 to 4 foster dogs at any one time so he could work with them in his spare time at home. This morning we retrieved all of his fosters and took on his own dog Athena who is like the pack mother for the puppies Charles was fostering.

At this time we are going to need some folks willing to foster to help us out by bringing some dogs into their homes, our shelter is above capacity. If anyone would like to make a donation in his honor to the Humane Society or if you would like to donate to his family we would be happy to make sure those get to his family during their time of mourning.

Charles, you were an amazing person and a true friend. You will be truly missed. GOD bless you and your friends and family.

ORIGINAL STORY

A Cumming man died in a head-on collision early this morning along Georgia Highway 369, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The man, identified as Charles Griffin Hall, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene after his motorcycle hit another vehicle on the stretch of highway also known as Browns Bridge Road.

At around 12:29 a.m., Hall was traveling westbound on Highway 369 on a 2007 Kawasaki EX650A and had just crossed over the Two Mile Creek bridge when he veered into the eastbound lane and hit a 2000 Mazda Wagon head-on.

Gainesville resident Justin Timothy Harless, 28, driver of the Mazda, tried to avoid the collision, but was unable to do so. Hall was wearing a helmet at the time of the fatal accident.

Harless sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.
