Cumming Man Dies in Single Car Accident

The driver had to be extricated from the pickup truck.

A 56-year-old Cumming man was killed following a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Peachtree Parkway and Laurel Springs Parkway Monday around 11:39 p.m.

According to Investigator Ron Tomblin of the , Raymond Holbrook of Bentley Road was headed north on Peachtree Parkway in a 2000 Ford F-150 truck. After Holbrook passed the Laurel Springs Publix entrance, the vehicle left the roadway traveling about 50 feet down the sidewalk. The vehicle then re-entered the roadway and traveled another 75 feet before leaving left the roadway again, crossing over the sidewalk and slamming into a cement power pole.

Tomblin said that Holbrook was entrapped in the pickup truck and had to be extricated by the Forsyth County Fire Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other persons were in the vehicle with Holbrook and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

At this time it is unknown as to why the vehicle left the roadway. The crash remains under investigation.

Authorities diverted traffic for about 30 minutes during the extrication.
