Cumming Residents Sentenced in Prescription Drug Ring Bust

Six Cumming residents have been sentenced to prison or given probation after pleading guilty to being members of an 11-person prescription drug ring which operated in north Georgia.

The alleged ringleader of the scheme, 29-year-old Holly Worley of Cumming, was sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of oxycodone with the intent to distribute. 

Federal prosecutors say that Worley would forge prescriptions for the painkiller using the names of real doctors, then distribute the prescriptions to 10 other people. They would then obtain the drugs from pharmacies located across the metro Atlanta area.

According to the prosecutors, Worley and a Gainesville man would arrange for the sale of the pills. The people who obtained the drugs were given either cash or allowed to keep a portion of the pills.

The five other Cumming residents who were sentenced to for their involvement in the drug ring are:

• Kelly Ardizone, 26, who will serve two years and three months in prison.
• Michael Ardizone, 28, who will serve a year in prison.
• Keva Hamrick, 23, who will serve five years of probation.
• James Sweatman, 27, and Brian Myers, 33, will be sentenced on July 7.
