Deputy Sheriff Victor Porter Recognized by His Peers

According to Capt. Mark Flowers, North Precinct Commander, Deputy Porter's traffic stop of a vehicle for an equipment violation led to an arrest for possession of drugs.

On June 17, following a traffic stop of a white Mazda M3 traveling west on Spot Road, Porter observed alcoholic beverages in the back seat of the vehicle. He also noticed that the driver and passenger appeared to be under the age of 21.

During an interview, the passenger told Deputy Porter that there was some marijuana in a bag on the floor in front of the passenger’s seat.  When Deputy Porter retrieved the bag of marijuana he also located a scale used to weigh narcotics and $290.00 in cash. This led to the arrest of the passenger for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

“The contributions Deputy Porter has made to the North Precinct have been invaluable,” said Capt. Flowers in a news release. “He is an inspiration to his peers as well as his supervisors.”

Deputy Porter has been with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office since May 2008.

During the year, each Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Precinct recognizes a Deputy of the Month. At the end of each year, a Deputy of the Year is selected from the 12 monthly award winners.
