Deputy With Sheriff's Office Nabs "Cat" Burglar

Deputy Sheriff Jon Beival earns Deputy of the Month for April for catching a cat burglar.

The  of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office names Deputy Sheriff Jon Beival it's Deputy of the Month for April.

He earns the title due to his investigative work in confirming and apprehending a cat burglar following a vehicle accident, according to Capt. Ron Freeman, South Precinct Commander.

On April 26, while Deputy Sheriff Beival was working a motor vehicle accident, he noticed a gold Toyota wagon pass by the scene.

“DS Beival made an executive decision to advise the driver, who was waiting for a wrecker and was parked in an area that was not a hazard, that he would return shortly so he could stop the Toyota wagon,” said Capt. Freeman.

After stopping the suspicious vehicle, Beival identified the 16-year-old driver as the same person who fit the description of a ‘cat burglar’ from an earlier incident in the Bridle Ridge subdivision in south Forsyth County.

After retrieving information and releasing the teen driver, Beival returned to his previous accident scene.

“Then, DS Beival completed a field interview sheet for Criminal Investigations to perform a follow-up,” said Capt. Freeman. “After the follow-up was done, it was confirmed that the juvenile that DS Beival had gotten information from was indeed the ‘cat burglar’.”

Beival is credited for helping investigators in solving several crimes that had been taking place in the area of Peachtree Parkway, McGinnis Ferry Road and Brookwood Road.

DS Beival has been with the sheriff's office since October 2011 and is currently assigned to “D” Watch, South Precinct, Uniform Patrol Division.
