Ex-Police Sergeant Pleads Guilty in Drive-Through Gun Incident

A Cumming man who was a DeKalb County police sergeant when he pulled a gun on a customer at a drive-through on Atlanta Road has pleaded guilty in the April 9 incident, reports the Forsyth County News.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office arrested Scott A. Biumi, 48, and charged him in connection with the incident at the Cumming McDonald's. Biumi about 10:30 that evening became upset that another customer in the drive-through lane, whose order was taking too long. Biumi then left his vehicle, got into a verbal exchange with the other customer, drew a gun and pointed it at the customer, according to investigators.

His police certification was suspended shortly after incident, according to Ken Vance, the Executive Director of Georgia's Peace Officer Standards and Training Council, 11 Alive reported.

The 26-year veteran of law enforcement pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault in a negotiated agreement with prosecutors and was sentenced to 10 years of probation and 120 hours of community service, according to the Forsyth County News. He also is barred from owning a gun or working in law enforcement.
