Forsyth County Man Struck by Van, Killed

The Cumming resident walked into the path of a full-size Ford E-250 on Canton Highway.

A Forsyth County man died Saturday morning after he was struck by a van on Canton Highway, or State Route 20, near the Cherokee County line.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Phil Alexander said in a press release Johnie Baker, 61, of Cumming, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Baker walked out in front of a full-size Ford E-250 van driven by Victor Martinez of Jasper, who stopped to render aid, the release says.

The crash is under investigation by FCSO, but authorities say there is no evidence of alcohol or drug impairment with driver nor the deceased.
