Forsyth Deputy Recognized for Kindness and Concern for Victims

Deputy Sheriff Heather R. Olson earns Deputy of the Month for May for helping in the arrest of an alleged sex offender.

The  of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office names Deputy Sheriff Heather R. Olson it's Deputy of the Month for May.

Olson is being recognized for her response to a disturbing incident on May 28. That day she was dispatched to the to meet with a very upset mother and her daughter about a possible child molestation, according to Capt. Ron Freeman, South Precinct Commander.

“When Deputy Olson arrived, she immediately began calming the hysterical mother so she could obtain some information to determine what had occurred," said Freeman. "She never left the hysterical mother’s side and continued assuring them both that all would be okay and that they were doing the right thing and that they would be safe.”

“Because of her overall kindness, concern and sympathy, Deputy Olson was able to connect with the victim and her mother, putting them at ease. Her actions made the investigation much easier for the Criminal Investigators.”

Upon completion of the investigation an arrest was made. The relative was charged with numerous sex-related crimes including child molestation.

“I am sure the victims are very appreciative of Deputy Olson’s display of concern and determination to assure their safety and that the incident would be handled properly,” Freeman said.

DS Olson has been with the sheriff's office since August 2011 and is currently assigned to “C” Watch, South Precinct, Uniform Patrol Division.
