Forsyth Man Arrested in Hit and Run that Injured Woman

The victim, who remains hospitalized, suffered a broken arm and head trauma.

A man suspected of hitting a woman Sunday night and driving away has been arrested.

Winton β€œRed” Kuglar, 86, of Shady Grove Road in Cumming, was charged with hit and run resulting in serious injury, serious injury by motor vehicle, and reckless driving, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The alleged hit and run happened about 9:30 p.m. at Mountain Valley Circle off Canton Highway after the victim, Krystal Cain, 31, told authorities that while she was walking home from a store a vehicle hit her. Cain said she heard a car coming and moved off the roadway onto the grass, but was still hit.

Cain, who suffered a broken arm and head trauma, was transported to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell by ambulance where she remains.

A witness later told deputies he had seen a gray car stop just past Cain, but the vehicle left the scene as the witness was helping her.

During the search for Kuglar, which continued through Sunday night and into Monday, a gray Acura with damage to its hood was spotted driving through the area the deputies were searching. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Kuglar. Following evidence gathered from the car and Kuglar's statements, an arrest was made.

Kuglar is currently being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center with a $12,375 bond.
