Forsyth Man Wanted For Child Molestation Arrested in California

Marcus S. Tillman was apprehended Thursday around 9 p.m. local time.

A man wanted by Forsyth County Sheriff's Office for not appearing for a court date on child molestation charges has been arrested in California.

Marcus S. Tillman was arrested around 9 p.m. local time in San Francisco at a coffee shop in the city by officials with the U.S. Marshal's Service, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The agency made the arrest after the television show America's Most Wanted received a tip that Tillman was in the San Francisco area.

Arrangements are currently being made to extradite Tillman back to Forsyth County, the sheriff's office said in its press release.

Tillman was on trial in Forsyth in February 2009 when he did not appear for a Feb. 27, 2009, court date.Β He was on trial for two counts of child molestation and two counts of cruelty to children.

The charges stem from an November 2006 arrest.

The sheriff's office issued a failure to appear warrant on the same day he did not appear in court. Β 

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office's Warrant Unit and the Marshals have been working together for the last four years to locate and bring Tillman to justice, which included getting his case featured on America's Most Wanted and posting him on the sheriff office's Most Wanted list.Β
