Forsyth Sheriff's Office 'Take Back Drugs' Today
The event is part of the DEA's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.
Do you have old prescription drugs in your medicine cabinets at home? If so, you wouldn't want your children to accidentally take them, right? Or how about you? Play it safe and get rid of those drugs once and for all.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is taking part in the sixth installment of the DEA's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Precinct located at 2985 Ronald Reagan Boulevard. All forms of prescription drugs will be taken, no matter how old and no questions asked.
A permanent drug drop-off box was installed at this location last April to facilitate regular disposal of these drugs.

“While the permanent drop-off box is always available, this event gives us the opportunity to highlight the dangers of having these medications in the home," said Sheriff Duane K. Piper. "We encourage anyone with prescription medicine they are not taking to set aside the time to come by this Saturday."
During the last DEA-led National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day last September, citizens turned in a record-breaking 488,395 pounds (244 tons) of unwanted or expired medications for safe and proper disposal at the 5,263 take-back sites available in all 50 states and U.S. territories.

When the results of the four Take-Back Days to date are combined, the DEA and its state, local, and tribal law-enforcement and community partners have removed more than 2 million pounds (1,018 tons) of medication from circulation.
The DEA also maintains a Web page where you can find other drop sites and much more. Find it by clicking here.
