Investigator Ron Tomblin of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said that Jocelyn Afari, 50, of Cumming, was driving a 2007 Mercury Grand Marquise and failed to stop at a stop sign.

Tomblin said that Afari was traveling too fast to make the turn off Hanover Lane onto Bethelview Road and instead drove into the southbound lane of Bethelview and slammed head-on into a 2010 Toyota Rav 4. The driver of that vehicle, Yvonne Schumacher, 69, of Roswell and her two passengers were taken to hospitals.

Schumacher and Beatriz Ivette Villegas, 50, also of Roswell, were taken to Northside Hospital-Forsyth. The other passenger, Lara Maria Cabeza, 52, of Marietta, and Afari were taken to North Fulton Hospital.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be contributing factors in the collision. The crash remains under investigation.
