Forsyth Authorities Capture Fugitive in Alpharetta

A 45-year-old man, wanted by at least three counties on various charges, turned himself into authorities Thursday afternoon at a location in Alpharetta.

Kennie Askew, of Lithonia, was arrested by the Warrant Unit at approximately 2 p.m., a press release stated.

Capt. Tim House of the FCSO said earlier in the week that Askew was wanted by authorities in Cobb County for traffic violations and in Gwinnett for probation violation.

In Forsyth County, Askew has been charged with obstructing law enforcement officers and driving with a suspended license . That led to a manhunt for the fugitive with assistance of K9s and a helicopter by the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office.

According to Sheriff Ted Paxton, Askew was apprehended after investigators contacted the wanted man's family and they had Askew contact the deputies. Following a conversation with Capt. Chris Barrett, Askew agreed to turn himself in and was arrested without incident.

“Thanks to the determination and experience of our Warrant Unit, Kennie Askew is in custody," said Paxton. "We’re glad to be able to ease the minds of those living in neighborhoods involved in the search on Tuesday night, and the rest of the community.”

Askew is currently being held in the  with bond pending, and a hold placed for Cobb and Gwinnett counties.
