GBI Investigates New Hope Counseling in Cumming, Gainesville

Agents have searched one of the company's offices at 330 Dahlonega Street in Cumming and Forsyth County.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation executed search warrants Tuesday at New Hope Counseling offices in Cumming and Gainesville, according to the press release.

Searches of the offices at 330 Dahlonega Street in Cumming and 322 Spring Street in Gainesville were part of an investigation requested by Enotah Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Raymond George.

It involves equipment and supplies purchased by New Hope, but allegedly not provided to the Enotah Judicial Circuit Accountability Courts.

The company provides group counseling and testing services in several northeast Georgia counties as part of the circuit's accountability courts, according to CBS Atlanta and the GBI.

While the Bell-Forsyth Judicial Circuit operates a DUI court in Forsyth County, the Enotah Judicial Circuit runs felony drug courts in Lumpkin, Towns, Union and White counties, according to the Administrative Office of the Courts.

"Judge George recognized the accountability courts in Lumpkin and Union counties were operating with minimal supplies and equipment and found information which caused him concern leading him to request the GBI investigation on Sept. 13, 2013," the GBI press release says.

New Hope has three offices, including one in Dawsonville, according to its website, and offers anger management programs, addiction services and family counseling.
