UPDATE: Gainesville Man Critical After Head-On Collision in South Forsyth

The driver of a pick-up truck crosses the center line and slams into a FedEx cargo van Wednesday afternoon.

Update 3 p.m.: A Gainesville man is in critical condition with multiple fractures following a head-on collision with entrapment Wednesday afternoon on Union Hill Road north of Mullinax Road in South Forsyth County.

According to Traffic Specialist Corporal David Garrison, Jerry Raymond Miller Jr., 43, was driving his 1990 Ford Ranger pick-up north on Union Hill Road at the time of the accident. Miller's truck went off the right side of the road, and as he came back onto the road he crossed the center line into the pathway of a Federal Express truck driven by Ronald Elbert Adkins, 54 of Cumming. Adkins was traveling southbound on Union Hill Road when the two vehicles hit head-on trapping Miller in his truck.

Capt. Jason Shivers with the Forsyth County Fire Department told Cumming Patch that it took about 10 minutes to get Miller out of the pick-up truck and just as he was being pulled from the vehicle, a medical helicopter landed on the scene and airlifted him to Atlanta Medical Center.
