Man Arrested After Stabbing in North Forsyth

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office says the two men knew each other and the stabbing stemmed from a fight.

A fight between two men early Friday morning resulted in one being stabbed and the other being arrested.

Deputies with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office responded to a call after 1 a.m. Friday from a home on Church Road, which is located in the northern part of the county, that a person was stabbed. A fight allegedly took place between two men who apparently knew each other, the agency posted on its Facebook page.

According to an incident report from the sheriff's office, the victim, 58-year-old Marshall Danny Tallant, told deputies he'd been stabbed in the abdomen and suspect left the scene after the incident. The victim was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville to be treated for his injuries.

Deputies eventually learned the suspect's identity. A warrant was issued for Tommy Albert Samples, 35, and he was eventually arrested by deputies with the Dawson County Sheriff's Office.

Samples has been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery and is behind bars at the Forsyth County Detention Center.
