UPDATED: Man Dies in Forsyth Officer-Involved Shooting

Shooting occurred after deputies responded to a 911 call at a home in the 7900 block of Nicholson Road early Monday morning.

Update:

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has identified the man shot and killed early Monday morning as Kenny Roger Drake.

The names of the three deputies involved have not been released. WSB reported Monday that there other people in the residence in addition to Drake, who reportedly was armed and threatening Forsyth County Sheriff deputies.

None of the others inside the home were injured according to the Atlanta news outlet.

The investigation is ongoing.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy shot and killed a 52-year-old man early Monday morning at a residence in the northwest area of the county.

In an email statement, department spokesman Doug Rainwater said that deputies responded to a 911 call at a home in the 7900 block of Nicholson Road just after midnight.

A man at the residence then threatened deputies with a firearm and was shot. He died at the scene.

No deputies were injured.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating the shooting.

As per Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office policy, the three officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave with pay during the investigation.
