Man Dies Following Two-Car Crash in South Forsyth

A two-car crash Friday night claims the life of one.

A 20-year-old man died and a 21-year-old man was hospitalized following a two-car crash Friday night, according to the .

The accident happened around 9:01 p.m. at the intersection of McFarland Parkway and Union Hill Road in south Forsyth County.

Gustavo Ramirez, 20, was a passenger in a 2004 Toyota Corolla that was being driven by Jorge Humberto Ruano, 21, both of nearby Alpharetta, according to Corporal David Garrison.

Ruano who was traveling east on McFarland Parkway, attempted to make a left turn onto Union Hill Road, when he failed to yield the right-of-way to a 2002 GMC Yukon. The Yukon driven by Ronald Harris, 54, also of Alpharetta slammed into the passenger door of the Corolla.

Ramirez was transported to North Fulton Hospital where he died later that night. Ruano was also transported to the same hospital and kept overnight for observation. Harris was not injured in the crash.

Authorities have charged Ruano with failure to yield while turning, and homicide by vehicle in the second degree. Harris was charged with driving under the influence. All three were wearing a seatbelt, a news release stated.

The collision remains under investigation.
