Man On Motorcycle Swallows Evidence

DOGS LEFT ABANDONED

Feb. 14, police responded to John Burruss Road to an animal cruelty call, where they discovered that a white beagle and a brown hound dog had been left by their owners with no food or water. Neighbors stated that they feed the animals and then called police. They told the officer that the residents had moved away several days prior and the dogs were left behind.

The owners returned several days later to collect more of their belongings and told neighbors that someone was supposed to pick up the dogs. The officer attempted to call said person but no contact was made. Both animals were kept in a pen outside and both were very malnourished.  Forsyth County Animal control is investigating.

ATV THEFT

Feb. 14, an officer was dispatched to a home on Mountain Side Drive were an ATV had been stolen. The green, 2003 ATV 350 Honda Ranger was described as having a camo tape residue all over the body, a push bumper and a push button transmission on the handle bar. The owner said they apparently tried to steal a second ATV but the battery was dead. The approximate value of the ATV is $5,000.

MOTORCYCLE DRIVER SWALLOWS EVIDENCE

Feb. 13, an officer was travelling along Bethelview Road when he noticed a motorcycle was behind him and would not pass him no matter how slow the officer was going.  After some time the motorcycle passed him and the officer noticed the drive out tag was not clear as to the expiration date. The officer initiated a stop and began questioning the driver.

The officer noticed that while he was in his patrol car the 27-year-old male was patting down his pants legs and put something in his mouth. Once the officer came back to the driver, he was chewing and would not open his mouth for the officer to see what he was chewing. After several requests, the male opened his mouth and the officer noticed his tongue had a thick green film on it and particles of a leafy green substance in his mouth.

He was then arrested and charged with No Proof of Insurance, Operation of an Unregistered Vehicle, Obstruction and Tampering with Evidence.

MODEL HOME BROKEN INTO

Feb. 11, an officer responded to the James Creek Subdivision, an Ashton Wood Homes development, in response to a burglary call. The officer met with the builder who advised him that the model home had been broken into sometime the following day between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m.

The builder reported that the phone lines had been cut which deactivated the alarm system and that two windows were smashed to gain entry. The missing items were a Sony 42” flat screen TV and a Sony 52” flat screen TV. An investigation is underway.

 A RISE IN CHURCH BURGLARIES

 Feb. 10, the North Forsyth United Methodist Church was broken into and several items including a projector, a keyboard amplifier/mixer, microphones and equipment cables were stolen. Entry was made by large holes in the back side of each suite to gain access to the other suites and the stage area. Please forward any information about this break-in to the .

NARCOTICS UNIT MAKES TWO ARRESTS

Feb. 8, the Narcotics Unit and the North SOAR Team arrested a 34-year-old female and a 56-year-old male. They were charged with five felonies which included two counts of Sales of Methamphetamine, two counts of Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute. The female who was a wanted fugitive was also charged with violating probation. The male was additionally charged with Use of a Communication Facility-Drug Related. 

FIRE

Fire calls increased during the week of Feb. 7 – Feb. 14 to 219 calls. This number increased by 24 calls for the prior week. According to the Forsyth County Fire Department, with the rise in temperatures there will be a rise in calls.

The reported that for the week of Feb. 7 – Feb. 14, their calls consisted of seven structure fires, (one condo fire that was a total loss--), four brush fires, three kitchen/stovetop fires, three rubbish fires, six gas/power lines down, 130 medical emergencies, 14 false alarms and 11 public assist calls.
