Man Threatened At Gunpoint While Delivering Newspapers

MAN THREATENED AT GUNPOINT WHILE DELIVERING NEWSPAPERS

Feb. 18, while delivering newspapers on Bexford View Drive inside of Margate Subdivision, a 25-year-old male was approached while in his vehicle by an unknown male who grabbed him by the throat and held a gun to his head and then struck him in the face.

The 25-year-old told officers that he was attempting to deliver newspapers when he observed a male and female standing in the roadway. He stated that he went around them and proceeded to leave the street when said male threatened his life. The unknown male was driving a white Chevrolet pick-up truck.

ICE CREAM, FUDGE SAUCE AND SLAW STOLEN

Feb 18, an officer responded to a shoplifting call from the Publix Supermarket on Atlanta Road. An employee watched as a 45-year-old female walked around the store and picked up several items and put them into her purse.

The employee also stated he saw the female go into the restroom and then proceeded to walk out the door when he stopped her. After searching her purse, they discovered two pints of ice cream, one jar of fudge sauce and a bag of slaw. 

WALMART EMPLOYEE CAUGHT ON TAPE STEALING CANDY BAR AMONG OTHER ITEMS

Feb. 17, the on Marketplace Blvd. was robbed by one of its own employees. The 40-year-old female was caught by archived videos over a two-month period of time, stealing various items from the store.

The items only added up to approximately $700, but will cost much more for said female. She was charged with Theft by Taking, a felony. The videos caught her stealing such items as cartons of cigarettes, coca colas, earrings, a hammer, 11 music cd’s, five DVD’s, winter gloves, video games, batteries, hair straightener and candy bar, among other miscellaneous items.

RESIDENT MISSED BEING SHOT BY 3-FEET

Feb. 15, officers responded to a criminal trespass call from a resident on Mathis Airport Parkway. The 63-year-old female stated that she was sitting on her back porch when she heard what sounded like a gunshot and decided to call the police.

After the investigation, officers found a .22 caliber bullet had been shot through the window just three feet from where the female was sitting.

LEAVING ROADWAY CAUSES TWO FLAT TIRES AND A DUI

Feb. 15, an officer responded to a single vehicle accident on Post Road and Atlanta Highway. Investigations of said accident revealed that the driver, a 31-year-old male had struck two mailboxes and ran through the grass of the Rite Aid parking lot before coming to a stop on Post Road with two flat tires.

Witnesses said the driver was outside his vehicle trying to fix the flats when officers arrived. They stated the driver was very intoxicated. The male driver was arrested and charged with five counts of Collision with Fixtures and Failure to Maintain Lane.

$10,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO HOME

Feb. 15, the builder of a new home under construction in Stoney Point Farms reported criminal damage to one of his properties. The builder stated someone had entered the home and damaged the plumbing. Neighbors reported they saw water running into the street and called the builder. There was extensive damage to the floors and sheetrock with an approximate total of $10,000.

After further investigation, they also learned that two hot water heaters still in their original carton had also been taken. Any information should be forwarded to the .

TWO METH TRAFFICKERS CAUGHT

Feb.14, narcotics officers arrested two Hispanic males, a 49-year-old and a 40-year-old, after attempting to sell four ounces of methamphetamine on Tidwell Road. Both were charged with five felony counts which included two counts of  Sales of Methamphetamine, two counts of Methamphetamine Trafficking and one count of Use of Communication Facility-Drug Related.

FIRE

reported a total of 206 calls for the week of Feb. 14 – Feb. 21. These totals included five structure fires, 16 brush fires, 123 medical emergencies, three gas leaks, 12 service calls, five false alarms and other non-serious incidents.

Fire Department incidents were down somewhat this week from 219 to 206. Basically each incident call was down except for brush fires, which increased from four to 16 this week. Captain Shivers stated this was due to "our dry conditions and the warmer temperatures that tend to bring people outside."
