News Near Cumming: Men Claim Home Invasion Due To Frigid Temps
The two said they were able to escape when three men robbed their home.
Hall County authorities say single-digit temperatures led two men to falsely report a home invasion.
Deputies Jan. 7 responded to a report of an armed robbery and false imprisonment in the 2000 block of Spring Road in Gainesville, according to the press release.
Two men, Will Thompson Boykin, 44, and David Scott Bonds, 39, told officers three armed men had entered their house, tied them up and ransacked the home.

The pair told investigators they escaped and drove to the Gainesville Police Department. Finding the facility closed, they went across the street to a motel and called Hall County dispatch.
Following an investigation conducted by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division Crimes Against Persons Unit, authorities determined the two allegedly fabricated the story.

The men told investigators that they made up the story due to cold weather.
Bonds and Boykin were each charged with two counts of false report of a crime and bond for each was set at $1,000. They were booked into the Hall County Jail without incident.
