News Nearby: Body of Man Pulled from Lake Lanier

The body of Robert Armistead, 54, was pulled from the lake Sunday.

The Hall County Sheriff's Department has informed Patch that the body of Robert Armistead, 54, of Lawrenceville was pulled from Lake Lanier on Sunday, Jan. 6.

Armistead's 10 to 15 foot jon boat was found overturned in the water about 10 feet off the shore. Armistead's body was taken to the Dekalb Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy and toxicology.

The Hall County Fire Department's Dive Team responded to a call of a capsized boat near the Aqualand Marina around 10:30 a.m., according to a press release sent to Cumming Patch.

The dive team searched the area as a precaution in order to rule out any other victims. It was determined that Armistead was alone when the boat overturned.

The Hall County Sheriff's Department reported that foul play is not suspected and that the incident remains under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division.
