North Forsyth Woman Charged with Fraud

Suspect basically "defrauded an elderly person who has a child who faces sexually-based crimes," according to a spokesperson within the sheriff's office.

A complaint of fraudulent legal practices has led to Kimberly McAfee Pruitt, of north Forsyth County, being arrested on Friday by Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office detectives and charged with forgery 1st degree, felony theft by taking, exploitation and intimidation of disabled or elderly adults, and Unauthorized practice of law.

After an investigation, a search warrant and arrest warrants for Pruitt, 42, were obtained. Pruitt posted a bond of $18,535 on Friday night and was released from the Forsyth County Detention Center.

Pruitt’s husband, Chadd Musgrave, was arrested during the execution of the search warrant for possession of a sawed off shotgun. As of early Saturday, Musgrave was still being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center with a bond set at $11,110.

As a result of the investigation, two Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office deputies were placed on administrative leave as of May 9th, 2014. Sheriff Duane K. Piper has requested the GBI assist in an investigation in regards to the deputies, who have not been named, involved in this case.

The Forsyth County News reported that Pruitt, the former spouse of an ex-sheriff’s deputy who was sentenced in 2009 for receiving child pornography on his work and home computers, basically "defrauded an elderly person who has a child who faces sexually-based crimes,” according to a spokesperson within the sheriff's office.
