UPDATE: Funeral Set for North Forsyth Student Killed Monday

Funeral services for Kyle Alan Robins, who turned 17 on Nov. 21, will be held on Friday, Dec. 14, at 5 p.m. at Mountain Lake Church in Cumming, according to his obituary.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.

The family has asked in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Humane Society of Forsyth County (HSFC).

"We are already beginning to receive donations," said Sandra Haynes, spokesperson with HSFC in an e-mail to Cumming Patch. "Please express our sadness over this tragedy and our appreciation for this young man’s love for animals. "

A senior at North Forsyth High School is dead and another student, a junior, was injured after a fatal car crash on Hendrix Road, about a mile north of Highway 369 Monday afternoon, according to authorities.

Kyle Alan Robins, 17, of Gainesville, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, a press release stated.

His passenger, Joel Knost, 16, of Cumming, was transported by ambulance to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell but is back home recovering, according to his mother, Mary Knost, in an e-mail to Cumming Patch.

"The plastic surgeon removed glass from his eyelid, he has a bruised lung, bruised ribs, fluid in his pelvis (that they say will be absorbed by the body) and cuts all over his face but fortunately he will be fine," Knost wrote.

"We are so grateful that he is still with us. He is having a really hard time emotionally with the loss of his best friend."

Cpl. David Garrison of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, reported that Robins, who was driving a 2002 Pontiac Gran Am, was driving southbound on Hendrix Road, at approximately 4 p.m. on Monday.

“The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it came into the curve at the Dexter subdivision,” said Cpl. Garrison. “The vehicle then hydro-planed and the driver lost control, striking a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado truck that was traveling northbound on Hendrix Road.”

The impact of the collision cut the Pontiac Gran Am in half, added Garrison.

The driver of the truck, Brandi Densmore, 30, of Cumming was not injured in the collision, but her passengers were.

Allyson Jameson, 18, suffered minor injuries and was transported to North Fulton Hospital. Densmore’s two children, ages 2 and 7, were also in the vehicle and taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite where they were treated and released.

After news of the accident broke, North Forsyth High had additional counselors at the school Monday evening, and again today [Tuesday] to assist students through this difficult time, according to Jennifer Caracciolo of Forsyth County Schools.

"The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) organized a prayer at the pole Tuesday morning at 8 a.m., with the majority of the student body attending," she wrote in an e-mail. "Please keep these families and our students in your thoughts and prayers."

Cpl. Garrison said all occupants of the vehicles were wearing their seatbelts and that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

A North Forsyth High School student is dead and another student is critically injured after a fatal car crash on Hendrix Road about a mile north of Highway 369 Monday afternoon, according to authorities.

Capt. Tim House of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said it was early in the investigation and didn't have much details as to what happened, except that two investigators were working the accident.

What we do know is that the student who is critically injured was transported to North Fulton Hospital and that there were four people (one adult and three children), in the second vehicle involved in the accident, who were injured.

Division Chief Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department said the adult was also taken to North Fulton Hospital and the children were taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.

All four were being treated for minor injuries, according to Shivers.

Authorities have not released the names and ages of the victims.

On the FCSO Facebook page, it states both students at North Forsyth are juniors and that the high school will have a 'Prayer at the Pole' Tuesday at 8 a.m.

The post also states, "Please keep these students and their families in your thoughts and prayers."
