According to various Web sites Cumming Patch checked out, there are simple ways to deter being a victim of these crimes. Prevention is at the top of the list. It is suggested to always keep your cars locked especially in your own driveway. Never leave valuables inside and always keep your windows up.

Cars in driveways are easy targets for thieves late at night and they can go from house to house in a matter of seconds. If the cars are locked they may not go through the trouble of breaking the windows and just look for another victim who forgot to lock their car.

GPS devices, computers, purses, and wallets are among the sought out items and almost all of these thefts were from unlocked cars.
