Sheriff's Office Captures Two Traffic Safety Awards

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office receives two statewide Traffic Safety awards by the Georgia Governor's Challenge Program.

During the 10th Annual Governor's Challenge Awards luncheon in Macon on Sept. 23, the (FCSO) received two statewide Traffic Safety awards.

Both awards are related to the Sheriff’s Office promotion of traffic safety, enforcement and traffic safety education, said Sheriff Ted Paxton.

For the past six years the FCSO captured first place in its size category in the overall Challenge Program and this year was awarded the 'specialty' traffic safety award for "Motorcycle Safety." This specialty award is given to an agency for their notable efforts in educating citizens, enforcing Georgia traffic laws and contributing to reducing impaired driving, vehicle crashes and injuries from crashes.

“I am honored to receive these awards, it clearly recognizes our proactive approach in combating vehicle crashes, fatalities and impaired driving,” said Paxton.

Sponsored by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Georgia Governor’s Challenge Program recognizes and rewards the best overall traffic safety programs between similar-sized law enforcement agencies across Georgia.
