As if freezing rain, sleet and snow aren't enough to contend, Forsyth County Sheriff's officials had another problem to deal with this morning.

The office posted the photo above on its Facebook page with this note: We have found a lost dog with a pink collar on Millwood Road. Our deputies will keep the dog at Animal Control.

The nearly 13,000 Facebook followers of the sheriff's department weighed in immediately with tips, including a lead that the owner had posted about her missing dog on the Humane Society site Tuesday and the owner's phone number. Soon, Mary Bennett posted that the wandering pooch was her dog, Sadie.

"Thank you Forsyth County Sheriff's office and Animal Control and Deputy Wright and Deputy Johnson!!! She is home safe and sound! I can't thank you enough for bringing her home to me!!!" Bennett posted.

The officers' actions earned praised from residents.

"Thank you FCSO for taking the time to help this sweet dog get back to its owner, considering everything you have going on right now," posted Donnie Wiggins Dickerson. "I know she will appreciate it."

And reader Gretchen Lehman Stephens shared the views of many fans. "Thank you FCSO for taking care of people & their ANIMALS during this crazy time!"
