Sheriff’s Office Recognizes Deputies For Their Work

Two deputies were recently recognized for their investigative work that led to the apprehension and arrests of several individuals.

The and Precincts of the names Deputy Sheriff First Class Tyler Sexton and Deputy Sheriff First Class James Cutcliff its January 2011, Deputies of the Month.

Deputy Sexton was responsible for the arrest of a person with an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction on January 20. The apprehension and arrest of the individual, based on the warrant, stemmed from Sexton’s investigative work while responding to a “suspicious person call."

Then on January 29 Sexton responded to another call, involving an altercation between two people, at the AMC Theater at the Avenue Forsyth off Peachtree Parkway. While searching the area, Sexton spotted the two individuals who were fighting with one another in nearby woods. While trying to make contact with the pair, they fled on foot. But after a brief foot chase, Sexton caught up with them and arrested both individuals.

On January 22, while patrolling the Green Leaf subdivision because of recent thefts in the area, Deputy Cutcliff noticed a vehicle parked in the garage of an abandoned house. During his search of the area he found three men down the road from the house. After approaching and asking the suspects why they were in the subdivision, they were unable to explain their actions. This led Cutcliff to take the men into custody and arrest them for Loitering and Prowling.

Congratulations to both Deputy Sexton and Deputy Cutcliff who have been with the Sheriff’s Office since 2008.
