Suspect Captured, Arrested for Family Violence

This activity report is a selection of local incidents from May 16 – May 23.

MULTIPLE VEHICLES ENTERED AT BIG CREEK TRAIL HEAD

MAY 22, deputies responded to 5120 Bethelview Road in the parking lot in response to windows being smashed out of four parked vehicles. As owners returned to their cars they were able to learn that items stolen from the cars included; purses, miscellaneous debit and credit cards, driver’s licenses, a Fuji digital camera, case and battery charger, approximately $460 in cash and financial paperwork from Manhattan NY Pizza.

A witness reported that she saw two young Hispanic men running from the woods near the walkway carrying some type of bag.

SEVERAL CARS WITH WINDOWS SMASHED AT SAWNEE MOUNTAIN PARK

MAY 22, a deputy was dispatched to with a report of two cars that had been broken into by smashing out the side windows. The owner's of the vehicles were attending their children's baseball game when the incident happened. Multiple credit cards, checkbooks and cash were stolen.

RESIDENTIAL FORCED ENTRY BURGLARY

MAY 20, dispatch received a call concerning a residential burglary. The deputy arrived to 8850 Little Mill Road to discover that approximately $8000 in household items had been stolen.

The homeowner who had just purchased the house told the deputy that the suspects tried to pry open the doors but were unsuccessful and then busted the rear window out to gain entry. Items removed from the home were two air conditioning units, copper wire, a kitchen island cabinet, carpet, an oak chest, a dishwasher and light fixtures.

COCAINE FOUND IN MAN'S WALLET

MAY 18, a traffic stop was made due to only one headlight working on the vehicle. The driver, a 27-year-old Hispanic male, was unable to provide a driver’s license and the vehicle he was in did not have a tag on the car.

Investigations lead to learning that the car was actually owned by someone out of state and that this male was taking it to the shop to be fixed. The male was unable to inform the deputy where the shop was located since he said it had only been opened for three weeks. An arrest was made and the individual was charged with No Driver’s License and No License Plate.

A deputy at the , who was booking the male into the detention center, found a baggie containing a white powdery substance in the man’s wallet. The arresting deputy was called in to field test the substance and it was found to be cocaine. A felony charge was added for Possession of Cocaine.

RIFLE STOLEN IN BURGLARY

MAY 17, an officer from the responded to a burglary at Pike Electric on Industrial Park Boulevard. The officer met with the complainant who stated that someone had cut a hole in the chain link fence and entered the property.

It was reported that the suspect(s) cut the locks off of at least five different work trucks and stole tools, a chain saw and cooper wires from all of the trucks. Also reported stolen was a Remington rifle caliber 243, model #7400 with a serial #8082278. Extensive damage was also reported inside the building and other offices.

SUSPECT CAPTURED AND ARRESTED FOR FAMILY VIOLENCE

MAY 16, deputies were patrolling an area around South Shore Circle and Lanier Beach South looking for a wanted individual who had several family violence related outstanding warrants, including two counts of Cruelty to Children and Criminal Trespass and Battery.

The deputies spotted his vehicle and tried to initiate a traffic stop on 48-year-old Glenn Davis.  The wanted individual sped away running stop signs and exceeding speeds of 50 mph in a residential area. The pursuit ended in a cul-de-sac that was blocked by deputies so the vehicle could not leave. After approaching the vehicle the deputies saw the suspect flee on foot. Back up was called in and they pursued him on foot before losing him in the hill area.

Glenn was apprehended and arrested on May 18 and is in the Forsyth County Detention Center. Additional charges have been filed on the suspect including Obstructing Police, Driving with License Suspended and Reckless Driving.

FIRE

Caption Jason Shivers with the Forsyth County Fire Department reported that there were 226 incident calls for the week of May 16 - May 23.

These response calls consisted of 12 false alarms, two smoke scares, one authorized burning call, six no incidents found, 26 canceled in route calls, one unauthorized burning call, one downed power line, one carbon monoxide alarm, two gas leaks (one was at the corner of Sawnee Drive and Dahlonaga Highway at the Citgo Station), 143 medical emergencies, one dumpster fire, one brush fire, two chimney fires and two structure fires with no injuries.
